Andrei Bokov

REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NEW LEADERS IN CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN ARCHITECTURE

Corresponding member of BAS prof. Atanas Kovachev, PhD in architectural science

I think in the beginning of the XXI century, Russia and especially the Russian capital experienced its construction "Renaissance". In Moscow was realized the predictions of new General Plan of Moscow with prospective horizon in 2020. In the recent years, the rising "star" of the new generation of Russian architects already took over from the masters of Russian architecture, having its strong presence in the modern architectural world. Even the annual architecture festival Zodchestvo, which held the Union of Architects of Russia, included for the first time an exhibition "New Leaders", which takes stock of the development of Russian architecture in the late twentieth and early XXI century. Bokov Andrei, Sergei Kiselyov, Alexander Assadov, Alexander Skokan, Alexei Vorontsov, Vladimir Plotkin, Mihail Hazanov, Sergei Tkachenko, Andrey Chernihov, Eugene Pestov, Nikita Yaveyn, Sergei Skuratov, Dmitry Velichkin, Alexei Bavkin, Nikolai Belousov ... The list can be extended. It can be changed through the years, as it can add new names, some may drop out ... But what architectural critics considered indisputable fact is the existence of new leaders. Architecture - and on all levels - from large-scale spatial and landscape planning in urban planning, dimensional design of buildings and complexes to the interior and detail of individual objects are no longer made by organizations and from individuals. Among these particularly important Andrei Bokov, awarded the title "Academic" of the International Academy of Architecture at the twelfth World Triennial of Architecture "Interarch - 2009 in Sofia. His visit card is too rich - an architect, a PhD in architectural science, member of Russian Academy of architecture and building sciences, member of the European Society of Culture, President of the Union of Architects of Russia, General Director of Mosproekt - 4 "Laureate of Russia's State Prize Laureate of the Russian national award in architecture, "Crystal Daedalus" in 2001, 2002 and 2004, Honored Architect of the Russian Federation and Honorary builder of Moscow, and more and more degrees, titles, awards... the results of an active creative career in architecture. Bokov Andrei was born in 1943 in Moscow. Graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute in 1966 From 1966 to 1970 he worked at Mosproekt. He became a doctor at the Central Research Institute for Theory and History of Architecture (1970-1972) in Moscow, where in 1973 he defended a thesis entitled: “Architectural-spatial organization of multifunctional complexes and facilities” and continues to work in the same Institute (1972-1974). Life offers variety of challenges and Andrei Bokov is frequently changing creative career at various levels and institutions in the design and science field - following years of working as group leader and later head in the Central Research Institute of Experimental design of spectacular buildings and sports facilities on the name of B. Mezentsev (1974-1981 ) and Director of the scientific an design work at the Moscow Research and Design Institute for objects of culture, leisure, sport and health (1981-1988); Director of scientific work Vsesayuzniya Research Institute of Theory and History of Architecture and Urban Planning (1988-1991) and again at the Moscow Research and Design Institute for objects of culture, leisure, sport and health (1991-1998 ) now as chief architect and first Vice Director of the institute, but by 1998 he was Director and later General Manager of Mosproekt - 4, where he still works. In 1994 he defended a second doctorate on "Geometric fundaments of architecture and picture of the world" and became a doctor of architectural science. In scientific assets are series of articles and studies on topical problems of theory and history of architecture. His teaching activity is also rich - in different periods taught at various institutions - began in the experimental design studios for art (1968-1988), the Moscow Architectural Institute (1973-1975) and Moscow Institute for Engineers ( 1976-1980) and the Moscow Higher School of Fine Arts in the name of C. Surikov (1981-1983 on). Over the years, however from student bench to this day, when his vote of confidence to manage the thousands of Union of Architects of Russia, never ceases to design - there it is his element, there is real satisfaction, there is great love. Dozens of projects and realizations have his authorship as a member or leader of various teams, and dozens have been realized - huge buildings and complexes.
