The "mission" of PAV is to create new institution for contemporary art that is functional and can be put in different from the usual artistic use. This function is in political-administrative context that stimulates the so called "cultural tourism" and increases the interest in art. The main elements in this project are: art, ecology, biology and the participation of the visitors through artistic experiments. Finally the character from an architectural point of view is to make - project based on issues of transformation, flexibility and adaptivity.

LOCATION

The location of the project is in former industrial zone in Turin, there is placed the first factory of FIAT and the new residential complex from the Olympic games in 2006.

HYBRID BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND NATURE AND BIO-CLIMATIC ASPECTS

The building is semi-hypogeal and has square plan with an internal yard. The entrance is placed on the South in order to gain from the energy of the sun. The sides of the building on the East and on the West have installed solar systems. On the other two sides is placed vegetation that makes shadow in the summer period. The structure is brick construction insulated with glass and green roof. The materials that are used are natural and there are no substances deriving from the petrol-chemistry industry.
The outdoor and indoor laboratories will host groups of visitors that are interested in the topic of the interaction between art and nature.
